I recently returned from Little Tokyo in Los Angeles, where there was much relief effort going on for Japan. The people of L.A. had come up with everything under the Rising Sun to help Japan. It’s beautiful how charity brings people together.
In Little Tokyo, signs hung in every proprietor’s window, each with a different version of relief: “Love for Japan,” an earthquake relief benefit concert, was being held by local musicians, a “Save Japan” charity market was on at the Higashi Honganji Buddhist Temple and another store had T-shirts that said “Save Japan Now,” (all proceeds donated to Red Cross).
作曲家Keith Kenniffと妻のHolliによって始められた、数十人のミュージシャンによる日本の被災者に送る音楽コンピレーションアルバム。After learning about the tragic events of the Japanese earthquake on March 11th my wife, Hollie, and I were talking about ways to help. We decided to ask a few friends to join a compilation to help raise money. A few quickly became many as we were overwhelmed and warmed by the eagerness of these musicians to get involved.
KarmaloopTV swings by The Bell House in Brooklyn, for a charity comedy and music event for Japan. We catch up with Wyatt Cenac from the Daily Show on Comedy Central, Tim Harrington from Les Savy Fav, Arden Myrin from MadTV, Kristen Schaal from Flight of the Conchords, and Fool’s Gold’s own, The Suzan.

Strictly Street Salsa holds a Salsa social on the second Saturday of every month in Houston, Texas (USA). We used the proceeds from our social on April 9, 2011, to benefit victims of the recent earthquakes and tsunami in Japan. We called the social “Salsa for Japan.”
The song used in this clip is “Salsa Caliente” by Orquesta de la Luz, which is a famous Salsa band from Japan. The dance is a freestyle “Rueda” by members of Strictly Street Salsa’s performance team. This variation of Salsa dancing (also called “Casino Rueda,” “Rueda de Casino,” or “Salsa Rueda”) is based out of Cuba and Miami.
