Artists Help Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Fund

Artists Help Japan is a charity movement initiated by Dice Tsutsumi, an art director at Pixar Animation Studios who was also behind 2008 Totoro Forest Project to help preserve Sayama Forest in Japan and Sketchtravel Project, to gather the force of communities of artists and creative minds around the world.
We believe artists have special roles to contribute to the society.
Within a week, 10 art communities from LA, San Francisco, New York, Paris, Toronto and Pittsburgh have signed up to do fund raising events to contribute to this movement.  We are calling for more artists communities to join the forces of  Artists Help Japan Movement.

One Thousand Cranes for Japan

A beautiful Japanese tradition tells that a wish may be granted in response to someone with the devotion to fold one thousand origami cranes. This project seeks to draw on that ancient healing and show that the emotional blow received can be responded to through the strength of solidarity and human compassion.
Artists have created beautiful designs that can be made into origami cranes. A donation to the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief Fund will allow you to download a design with instructions to guide you in making a crane. We are hoping many thousands of you will fold and then place your crane somewhere prominent so that it might inspire others to also focus their intent and devotion toward those in the grip of this tragedy.

Jamaica And Japan Share ‘One Blood’

In a show of love and support for the Japanese community after last Friday’s earthquake and tsunami devastated sections of the country, Junior Reid and his One Blood family have come together to raise funds to be sent to Japan in aid of those affected by the disasters.
Funds will be raised from the proceeds of last and next week’s instalment of his weekly Japanese Thursdays event, held at Club View on Eastwood Park Road.
The Japan disasters occurred on the second staging of Japanese Thursdays and Reid has now opted to partner with Yumi (a Japanese native who frequents the club) to contribute proceeds to the country.
