Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) hosted a Memorial service dubbed ‘Pamoja’ for the victims of the twin tragedy of an earthquake and a Tsunami that hit Japan on 11th March 2011.

JAPANESE MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR VICTIMS OF EARTHQUAKE AND TSUNAMI IN JAPAN
ナイロビのホテルで行われた被災者のメモリアル。
On Tuesday 29th March, 2011, a Japanese Memorial Service was held at Mani Room, Nairobi Serena Hotel, to pay a tribute to the victims of the massive Earthquake and Tsunami which devastated the Tohoku (North Eastern) region of Japan on 11th March, 2011. The Memorial Service was organized by the Kenya Red Cross and Mani Room was packed with more than 200 people, who were wearing T shirts prepared by the Red Cross with the insignia ”Pamoja”, meaning ”together in Kiswahili”.

Japan is now in a very critical situation due to the 9.0 Magnitude Earthquakes, Tsunamis and a Crisis in Nuclear Power Plants, causing unprecedented causalities in Japanese history.
As of today, here is the latest situation (National Police Agency).
- Death and missing toll is more than 20,000 of March 20, 2011.
- Number of evacuees is around 350,000.
- More than 14,500 houses were totally destroyed and/or washed away.
