Niger grants Japan US$25,000 for humanitarian aid

Niamey, Niger – Niger has provided humanitarian aid worth US$25,000 for earthquake victims in Japan, PANA learnt here Friday. The cheque for the amount was presented to the Resident Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Nobuyuki Yamaura, by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Seydou Abdoulkarim. Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Abdoulkarim said the gesture ‘is the modest contribution of the Government of Niger to the brotherly people of Japan which suffered tragic accidents following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the country’.
